13. day - 19/02/2007 - , Panama City

We are here in the Pacific Ocean. The first differences we recognised:
- the water is colder than it was on the other side (due to Humbold current)
- the nights are colder too
- low tie and high tie differences are bigger (4 meters here, on the other side it was around 0.5 meter)
- the buoys are on the other way around at the canal
- Panama City is a big booming town against Colón and the safety is much better
- People say that there are more sharks here, however we could see enough on the other side too.

After the breakfast we did a trip in the town. We saw more and less prosperous parts in the town. The old centre of the town was nicely restructured. There is a huge difference between the two towns Colón and Panama City. We could walk across the streets and we felt really safe here. It is a real cosmopolitan town with happy people on the streets. The prices of the clothes and foods are really cheap so we plan to do the big provisioning here.
When we arrived at Panama City we recognised that they had a 4 days Carnival on the streets.
We also met here with a Hungarian-Panamian couple and we spent the afternoon with them in a restaurant where we could see the fireworks in the evening..

14. day - 20/02/2007 - , The carneval

In the afternoon the big carnival day started so we went into the town. We met with the Hungarian-Panamian couple here then we started to walk along the streets. The parade was on and people were dancing and singing on the streets. I think it is better to see the pictures about it..

15. day - 21/02/2007 -

Zsuzsa and Laci left in the morning. Thanks for them being with us enthusiastically for two weeks. In the next couple of days we will prepare Rotor for the next journey and we might have 2 new guests on board from Hungary.
Do not go far away we will continue it soon..

English translation is missing, sorry...

105. day - 22/05/2007 -

Starting with a good day. Carlos (a kind local guy in the marina) promised us to sink under our vessel to clean the propeller. He did not seem to be worried about the red tide.
Making ourselves busy we bought fresh goods and chicken to can. It was interesting that the seller on the market gave us the breast and wanted to throw away all the other parts of the chicken such as the liver. It seems people do not eat these here. We could not even see a paté or something like that in the supermarket.
We prepared the canned chichken based on our grandmothers receipt. I was quite busy all day and cooked even cookies for the long journey.
